Women’s History Month Events

Women’s History Month programs begin this week with a focus on women in arts from the Caribbean and diasporas. The Women’s Center and LGBTQIA Safe Zone Hub, Casa de la Américas, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Option, Photography and Fine Arts programs invite artists Carla TomassiniSamantha BoxMelissa Misla and percussionist group, Legacy Women​ during the month of March. Also in March, LaGuardia is hosting the 2nd Annual CUNY LGBTQI+ Student Conference on Friday, March 31st. The theme this year is Community, Advocacy, Power, and Healing with Keynote Speaker, Cecilia Gentili. Register today!

Support Circles continue! Since April 2020, The Women’s Center and LGBTQIA Safe Zone Hub have facilitated Circles for students to express, connect and build community around themes such as, stress and overwhelm, navigating obstacles, and connecting with inner resources. Circles happen every Monday and Thursday from 3:25-4:25pm. Students register here​. Interested in having an in-class Support Circle around a course topic? Contact us directly to schedule. 

Lastly, The LaGuardia Mindfulness Project, led by Paul Arcario, Ellen Quish, Professor Koun Eum, and Deema Bayrakdar invite faculty, staff, and students to Mindfulness Meditation sessions on Wednesdays at 8pm and Thursdays at 12pm. Sessions consist of instruction, practice and open dialogue. Register here.
