This is a fantastic paid opportunity to gain experience in journalism. Here is the application:
Here is a description of the fellowship by my colleague Professor Meghan Fox:
I am writing with an exciting opportunity for our students. Through our educational partnership with the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, one LaGuardia student will receive the opportunity to research and report on an underrepresented issue of global importance with funding and mentorship provided. Students can propose projects focused on an issue occurring in the US or abroad that is underreported in the US media. Ideally, applications will propose projects that can be completed within the calendar year, so students must take safety concerns and travel restrictions into account. Only projects that can be safely completed will be considered.
Consideration for the Pulitzer Center Student Reporting fellowship is not limited to journalism majors. Please share the information below with any of your students who might be interested in learning more about the fellowship and the application process.
The fellowship is open to all current LaGuardia students. Information regarding the fellowship can be found on the Pulitzer Center’s website: https://pulitzercenter.org/education/campus-consortium-program-partners/reporting-fellowships The application itself is attached to this email. Please note that the proposed budget may not exceed $3,000.
Students can also learn about previous projects from the website, which will also help them differentiate their ideas from what has already been covered: https://pulitzercenter.org/education/campus-consortium-program-partners/reporting-fellow-stories
